Bud Light, ‘Up For Whatever’

2015

Hidden-camera commercial for the closing year of Bud Light’s “Up For Whatever” campaign, aired during Super Bowl XLIX in February 2015. I’m on camera in the blue shirt, one of the bar patrons presented to viewers as unwitting.

A casting-director friend forwarded a Facebook post looking for people to interview for a brand-ambassador position. I went to the bar that afternoon. The interviewer asked me to tell him the craziest thing I’d ever done; I told him about my first tattoo, which I’d gotten on a dare to eat twenty pads of butter. He liked the story. The second interview was a room of five other guys answering hypotheticals about reckless party situations. The third was supposedly a meeting with the company’s CEO at the Ace Hotel in downtown LA. We waited five hours, were walked across the street to a bar, and told we were about to meet him. It was a candid-camera setup. The bar patrons and staff were all actors. What unfolded after that is in the video.
